6. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

6.1 Pre-Installation Checks

  • Verify approved shop drawings and piping layout.
  • Inspect pipes and fittings for damages or defects.
  • Ensure the required permits and clearances are in place.
  • Confirm that necessary tools and equipment are available.

6.2 Pipe Routing and Support Installation

  • Mark pipe routes as per approved layout.
  • Install pipe supports at specified intervals to prevent sagging.
  • Ensure proper alignment before securing the pipes.

6.3 Pipe Cutting and Preparation

  • Measure and mark pipes before cutting.
  • Cut pipes using an appropriate cutting tool to ensure a clean edge.
  • Remove burrs and clean pipe ends before joining.

6.4 Pipe Joining Methods

For Carbon Steel Pipes:

  • Welded joints shall be performed by certified welders.
  • Welded joints shall be inspected for defects.
  • Flanged joints shall use gaskets to ensure leak-free connections.

For Copper Pipes:

  • Use brazing or soldering methods for joints.
  • Ensure proper flux application to prevent corrosion.

For HDPE Pipes:

  • Use butt fusion welding or electrofusion as per specifications.
  • Ensure proper alignment before fusing.

6.5 Valve Installation

  • Install valves in designated locations with proper orientation.
  • Ensure easy accessibility for maintenance.
  • Test valve operation after installation.

6.6 Flushing and Cleaning

  • Flush the piping system with clean water to remove debris.
  • Ensure filters and strainers are installed at designated points.

6.7 Pressure Testing

  • Conduct hydrostatic pressure testing at specified pressure levels.
  • Monitor for leaks and rectify if required.
  • Document test results and obtain approval.

6.8 Insulation and Cladding

  • Install insulation as per project requirements.
  • Ensure joints are sealed to prevent condensation.
  • Apply protective cladding where necessary.

7. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • All workers must wear PPE (helmets, gloves, safety shoes, goggles).
  • Ensure proper lifting techniques for heavy pipes.
  • Use scaffolding or ladders where necessary.
  • Fire extinguishers should be available in hot work areas.
  • Ensure proper ventilation during welding or brazing operations.

8. INSPECTION & TESTING

  • Visual inspection of pipe alignment and joint quality.
  • Pressure test to check for leaks and structural integrity.
  • Final walkthrough and approval from the quality team.

9. DOCUMENTATION & HANDOVER

  • Maintain records of material usage, test results, and inspections.
